Obtaining the Grant of Probate only
We can help you through the difficult process of obtaining the Grant of Probate on your behalf and leaving you, following receipt of the Grant of Probate, to undertake the collecting in and distributing of assets.
Costs:
A fixed fee of £1500 + 20% VAT = £1,800 or £2,000-£2,500 + VAT = £2,400-£3,000 where a full inheritance tax account is required to be submitted to HMRC.
This works includes submitting the application for obtaining the grant only. No administration of the estate.
As part of our fixed fee we will

Provide you with a dedicated and experienced probate solicitor to work on your matter

Identify the legally appointed executors or administrators and beneficiaries

Accurately identify the type of Probate application you will require

Ask you to obtain the relevant information required to make the application

Complete the relevant HMRC forms where necessary

Prepare the online probate application and legal statement for submission

To complete the application to the Probate Court (and HMRC where necessary) on your behalf

Obtain the Probate and securely send out to you
Disbursements

Probate court fee £300 + £16.00 per office copy of Grant of Probate

Bankruptcy & ID Verification Searches – £8.00 + £6.00 + VAT per beneficiary

£69.50 + 20% VAT* for a post in The London Gazette – this protects against unexpected claims from unknown creditors

£88.67 + 20% VAT* for a post in a Local Newspaper – this also helps to protect against unexpected claims

Travel costs are charged at 60p per mile (+ 20% VAT)
Disbursements are costs related to your matter that are payable to third parties, such as court fees. We handle the payment of the disbursements on your behalf to ensure a smoother process.

Not included in the fee

Any court work e.g. taking enforcements/tracing assets proceedings

Trusts of which the deceased was a beneficiary

Pensions, life policies or similar paying benefits that do not pay to the estate

Care fees paid during the lifetime of the deceased

When we are only obtaining the Grant of Probate on your behalf under our fixed fee, on average this will take 2 – 3 months to be in a position to submit the application to the Probate Court. The current advised timeframe for the Grant to be issued is 12 weeks from submission.
